Let’s Go, Mountaineers!!! As you have probably already
guessed, I’m a West By God Virginia Mountaineer fanatic. I love my ‘Eers! The
following pix express my fanhood, which I’ve never bothered to keep secret. This is a picture of me with West Virginia University’s Head Football
Coach, Bill Stewart. He’s just as nice as he seemed during his post-game
speech after the Fiesta Bowl (we kicked Oklahoma’s butt, by the way J ). It’s always a great day to be a Mountaineer, but meeting the man who
led us to victory in our hour of need made that day even greater. His first
season as our Head Coach was good, but I’m hoping next season will be even
better. This is my husband, Damon, with Bill Stewart. Wow, how lucky I was to be
in the same room with two such handsome Mountaineer fans! This is our copy of the Fiesta Bowl that Bill Stewart so kindly
autographed. If you haven’t watched it, I recommend it highly. And be sure to
keep a tissue handy for Owen Schmitt’s interview after the game. It made my
husband shed “man tears”. This is me with the 2008-2009 WVU Mountaineer. He was in a hurry to get
to the football field, but he kindly stopped to pose for this picture. And this is my all-time favorite Mountaineer, Patrick White. He will go
down in history as the only starting quarterback in college football history
to win four consecutive bowl games. Not only does he have the speed of a
gazelle, poise under pressure, and a fierce throwing arm, he also has
integrity and humility. Patrick was drafted by the Miami Dolphins, and
although, I’ll miss seeing him in the old gold and blue, I look forward to
following his professional career. Here is a pic of WVU legend, Owen Schmitt, signing our football. Owen
started out as a walk-on and earned a spot as starting fullback. He was known
for breaking facemasks and is a real beast. Owen now plays for the Seattle
Seahawks, and will go down in history as one of the most beloved players in
history. This is Super Steve Slaton, another Mountaineer legend. Speed kills, and
Steve proved that time and time again as he blew his opponents away. Steve is
now tearing it up in the NFL, where he is creating a name for himself while
playing for the Texans. |
